Q - I'm uncertain about buying a Mokume design without seeing it in person. Can you send me a sample and more information by mail? A - Yes. We often send out Mokume samples and information. All that is required is a small deposit to cover the sample and shipping costs. The deposit can be credited toward your order. Q - What are the different combinations of Mokume you can make? A - You can see the different combinations on our metals page. We can do other combinations not listed, but please ask before ordering, as some metals have difficulty bonding. Q - I understand you create Mokume rings to order. What kind of wait time can I expect? A - General turnaround time is 2-4 weeks. If you have a due date that is shorter than that, we can generally accommodate it. Please ask in advance. Q - Can Mokume rings be resized? A - Yes, although usually only up or down one size without interrupting or changing the pattern. Resizing is also limited by the type of stone setting. Q - What is "tri-gold"? A - We define tri-gold as any mokume that contains 3 or more colors of metal. Traditional tri-gold is "true" tri-gold because all the metals used are gold alloys. Our other tri-golds use silver, shakudo, or palladium in one or more of the layers. Q - What is Shakudo? A - A traditional alloy of copper and gold. Q - Is the Shakudo always black or does it change color? A - Shakudo will change colors depending upon body chemistry and humidity. Although it starts out black, it can change from copper tone to deep purple. |
